My First Wedding

August 28, 2018

It's funny to think back to the first wedding I ever shot. Full of nerves with my first camera that I called my one and only baby. The pressure of taking photos on such a special day kept my thoughts spinning.

It wasn't until I got to the venue and saw how much more nervous this beautiful bride was did I relax. This was her day. This was for her family and her love - it would be easy to capture that because it was everywhere. The love that this family had for one another hung in the air and filled my heart.

It was at this moment I knew that I loved photographing weddings.

They got married in Colorado on a ranch just outside of the town I grew up in. The mountains their backdrop, offering their vows and promises to each other up to the sunset.

Their ceremony as beautiful as it was had nothing on their reception that was full of laughter and outrageous dancing. They were there to have a good time and they did. I still remember the bride turning to me part way through the night and screaming "WAIT YOU DON'T HAVE A BEER?" Being 18 and working for her, I decided it was best to decline this one demand, but it did make me laugh.

Thanks for putting me on this journey Mr. and Mrs. Smith!
